You might not be aware of one of the Summer’s best-kept secrets. Every year there is a second chance to encounter the Tucson, Arizona Gem and Mineral Show experience – albeit on a smaller and more intimate scale. The Tucson Fall Gem Showcase features about 200 vendors and three large show promoters who also run events during the familiar February main event. But for buyers who’ve exhausted inventory, September is a really good time to stock up for the end of the year and rapidly approaching holiday selling season.
Over the long Labor Day Weekend and beyond, J.O.G.S. will return to the Tucson Expo Center, Gem & Lapidary Wholesalers (G&LW) will hold its Holidome Show, and the new Colors of the Stone/To Bead True Blue Show will be back at Casino Del Sol.
And, there is even a show for the jewelry and lapidary tool lovers out there: a small, fourth show at the well-stocked Kent’s Tools store on North 1st Ave.

You’ll find similar merchandise and vendors at the end of summer/fall shows, but on a smaller and easier to navigate scale. And not only is it a little saner, it’s also more budget-friendly to book a hotel and rental car during late summer, but be prepared: early September is still summer in the Sonoran Desert, and daytime temperatures can reach the high 90s and above, so pack accordingly!
